Perfectly Simple French Toast
Here is a delicious and beautiful breakfast recipe that you will only need to read once to remember. French toast requires the most basic ingredients, and can be made with whatever bread you prefer. This recipe makes one delightful serving, so you'll want to double or triple the ingredients if you plan on making more.
What You'll Need:
1 Hefty Slice of Bread
2 Eggs
1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla
2 Tablespoons Milk or Milk Substitute
Optional: Cinnamon, Nutmeg
Directions:
Mix all of your liquid ingredients together. I like to put them in a mason jar with a lid, and shake them to make sure they are well incorporated.
Next, pour the mixture over your bread and wait for it to soak it all up, like a sponge.
While your bread is soaking, heat a nonstick pan over medium heat and coat with a fine layer of butter or margarine. Fry the bread for 3-4 minutes per side, depending on the thickness.
You'll want your toast to be soft, cakey, and lightly browned. Similar to this:
Decorate your french toast however you'd like. You can drench it in syrup, dust it with powdered sugar, or drizzle with honey. I don't normally top mine with flowers, but feel free to do so, as it is sure to make you feel special.
Additional thanks to my husband Adam, who has the miraculous patience to bake bread for us.
Namaste.
